It’s Fun to be One

Wow what a day!  Hard to believe a year has passed, but I am officially one today.  Almost all of my family was here to help me celebrate.  Geike drove all the way from Pikeville this morning, Nonna and Poppa were here, Tia Angie, Meme, Mike, Sophie, and Eli and all of my Spooner cousins with Uncle Mike and Michelle.  The house was full of love (and noise).  Mommy made lasagna and meatballs.  And of course cupcakes – strawberry and chocolate! [flickr]photo:3456747553[/flickr]Daddy took a video of the present opening, but here is the run down – I really just wanted to chew things so my big brother Grant helped Mommy open most of them.  I got Dr. Seuss books from Sophie and Eli, Pooh books from Tia Angie and Robert, a dress and hat from Geike, a purple pillow from Uncle Morgan, a pink fuzzy door sign from Aunt Rachel, a dinosaur and bath mitt from Cousin Taylor (great for chewing), a dalmatian dog and handstitched bibs from Aunt Suzanne and Uncle Al (Grant got a dalmatian too – mommy wrote our names on their collars – although Grant knows they have different spots)  a Madeline doll from Nonna, a peapod baby from Molly and a baby stroller, musical ark, and balls from Mommy, Daddy, and Grant.  I am quite pleased with this whole birthday thing.  And did I mention the cake?  Big hugs and thanks to everyone who came today or sent their love along the way.  It is fun to be one . . .
